Achieving a Balance with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BIHRT) is a process where hormones with a chemical structure identical to natural hormones are used to replace hormones missing from the human body. Bio-identical hormones have chemical structures identical to what the body produces (such as progesterone and testosterone) and the value of hormone therapy (Bio-Identical or otherwise) is uncontested. Currently the therapy is prescribed by physicians and is used to relieve the symptoms of menopause, peri-menopause and andropause.

Other possibilities about this therapeutical treatment have been raised in recent years. In an August 14, 2006 news release the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) stated that: “It is the position of the A4M that the use of hormones in aging patients to replenish these levels to a youthful physiologic state, when conducted by qualified physicians trained in the practice of treating age-related hormonal declines, constitutes a legitimate and important life-enhancing, life-extending medical application.” Although the truth of these matters is currently the subject of much debate it is possible that BIHRT is more valuable than anyone ever thought.
